Execution scheduled for preschool teacher slaying

The man convicted in the high-profile slaying of a 27-year-old Atlanta preschool fitness teacher is scheduled to be executed on Jan. 25.
Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens said Thursday that Emmanuel Hammond's execution date was set for the July 1988 killing of Julie Love.
Love's remains were found a year after she went missing in a northwest Atlanta trash dump. Authorities say she had been raped, bound with coat hangers and shot in the head.
Police say Hammond, who was an auto mechanic, had also assaulted at least three women before he attacked Love.
State and federal courts have rejected a string of appeals filed by Hammond's attorneys. The U.S. Supreme Court also refused to review the case this week.
